Tromethamine Market

Tromethamine Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast 2021-2031

COVID-19 Impact on Tromethamine Market

  • On January 30, 2020, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. Originating in China, the virus has spread to at least 214 countries and territories around the world.
  • Several governments and private sector businesses are operating at a limited capacity or have ceased operations completely due to recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Manufacture of various consumer goods and other products across the globe came to a halt due to the unavailability of raw materials, shortage of labor, etc. This is expected to hamper the tromethamine market.

Key Drivers and Restraints of Tromethamine Market

  • Tromethamine is primarily used in pharmaceuticals and personal care & cosmetic industries. Tromethamine is a proton acceptor used for the prevention and correction of metabolic acidosis associated with various clinical conditions such as cardiac bypass surgery.
  • Growth of the personal care & cosmetics industry is one of the key drivers of the tromethamine market. Key factors contributing to the growth of the market include higher spending power of consumers and growing senior citizen population. Rise in demand for male grooming products also acts as a catalyst for the tromethamine market. However, consumer preference toward organic and natural personal care & cosmetics is likely to restrain the market during the forecast period.

Tromethamine: Grade Segment

  • In terms of grade, the global tromethamine market can be divided into USP grade, pharma grade, cosmetic grade, biotech grade, and others
  • The pharma grade segment is projected to hold major share of the global tromethamine market during the forecast period due to the rising demand for pharma grade tromethamine, which is used in various pharmaceutical dosage forms such as injection and infusion solutions, eye drops, and creams and gels. It has an alkalizing and buffering effect.
  • The cosmetic grade segment is projected to follow the pharma grade segment during the forecast period. Tromethamine is a synthetic skincare and cosmetic ingredient that is used as a pH adjuster and fragrance ingredient. Growth of the personal care & cosmetics industry is driving the global tromethamine market.

Tromethamine: End-use Segment

  • Based on end-use, the global tromethamine market can be segmented into pharmaceuticals, personal care & cosmetics, adhesives & sealants, textiles, and others
  • The pharmaceuticals segment is projected to gain higher share of the global tromethamine market during the forecast period. A large amount of tromethamine is consumed in various end-use industries including personal care & cosmetics, and textiles. Rise in geriatric population coupled with the increasing disposable income is likely to propel the demand for tromethamine in the pharmaceutical industry. This is projected to boost the global market for tromethamine in the next few years.
  • The personal care & cosmetics segment is also projected to hold key share of the global tromethamine market in the near future. Tromethamine is preferably used as a buffering agent, emulsifying agent, and as a fragrance ingredient in cosmetic and personal care products. Apart from this, the use of tromethamine enables effective removal of makeup from the skin and lowers the critical micelle concentration and surface tension of solutions such as salts of stearic, myristic, and lauric acids. This is expected to drive the global tromethamine market during the forecast period.

Asia Pacific to Hold Leading Share of Tromethamine Market

  • In terms of region, the tromethamine market can be divided into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa
  • Asia Pacific is expected to hold a major share of the global tromethamine market, followed by North America and Europe, during the forecast period. This can be attributed due to easy availability of raw materials at competitive prices in the region, as well as the rapid growth of the pharmaceuticals and personal care & cosmetics industries in China, India, Japan, and South Korea.
  • The tromethamine market in North America and Europe is projected to expand at a rapid pace in the near future

Tromethamine: Introduction

  • Tromethamine is an organic amine proton acceptor. It is used in the synthesis of surface-active agents and pharmaceuticals. It is also used as an emulsifying agent for cosmetic creams and lotions, and mineral oil and paraffin wax emulsions. Furthermore, it is employed as a biological buffer, and as an alkalizer.
