Reports
Static seal is a seal made between two stable and immovable components. It functions against two surfaces that have no relative motion between each other. In laymen terms, a static seal works as a gasket between two mating surfaces. Examples of static seals include plugs, flanges and tubing. As pressure increases, the seal deforms and reshapes so that sealing pressure increases to withstand the greater containment requirements. Depending on direction of compression, static seals can be classified into static axial seals and static radial seals. Static axial seals are a type of face seal, where sealing occurs on the face of the seals, whereas the sealing surface of static radial seals runs perpendicular to the seal centerline.
Static Seals – Competitive Landscape
The static seals market is highly fragmented with presence of many global as well as regional and local players. Key players are primarily concentrated in North America and Europe. However, many players are emerging from developing regions.

Static Seals - Dynamics
Rising demand for heavy machineries boosting demand for static seals
The static seals market is proliferating due to growth in several end-use industries such as oil & gas, power generation, and food and beverages. Static seals have wide user application in machineries involved in these end-use industries. Thus, demand for static seals is anticipated to grow during the forecast period with growth in several end-use industries. Leakage in industrial equipment results in excessive loss of business. Hence, demand for static seals is anticipated to grow owing to increasing awareness about enhancing efficiency of heavy machineries.
Product customization offering opportunity for static seals
Increasing product customization in various machineries is helping static seal manufacturers to design and manufacture new types of static seals. O-rings are the most widely accepted and used static seals worldwide. However, rising need for customization in machineries is creating demand for new types of static seals such as v-rings, square rings etc. This has resulted in increasing demand for static seals worldwide.
