S-SBR is used for manufacturing tire treads and offers superior performance in terms of low rolling resistance, better-wet grip and superior fuel economy. This is achieved due to the structural difference between S-SBR and E-SBR in terms of their hysteresis behavior and molecular weight distribution (MWD). These properties result in lower hysteresis losses and better wear resistance for tires. 

Over 75% of S-SBR produced globally is consumed by the tire industry. Tire is the largest application segment for S-SBR and is a major driver for the market.
